The Nelson Marathon boasts one of the most scenic and affordable marathons in the Country.

It began back in 2014 , being the “brainchild “ of Stu Cottam , and 12 years later, under Active4Good’s “umbrella” the same philosophy of the Event continues…..low cost to competitors and all proceeds to promoting active recreation in Nelson Tasman.

A STUNNING COURSE ....99% off-road along Nelson Tasman's "Great Taste Trail" & "Moturoa Trails"

THE MARATHON takes in a predominantly waterfront course rounding the scenic Waimea Inlet, passing farms and orchards before entering Moturoa / Rabbit Island.
Here a less trodden trail loops you around the island and through the forest onto the Tasman Bay Beachfront before retracing your steps back around the Waimea Inlet.

It’s 100% Flat and as Fast as your legs allow…

THE HALF MARATHON & 10km
Both are Out'nBack along the Great Taste Trail. Turnaround for the Half is at the junction of Cotterell Road and the Great Taste Trail and the 10km turnaround is on the far side of Nelson Pine Industries.

THE HALF MARATHON RELAY
4 Person Team options, roughly 5.5km per leg ..giving you the chance to combine with family, friends or workmates, to join the camaraderie, supporting a great event plus contributing to good causes along the way.
