ENTRY
Entry is by online registration until midnight on Friday 11 July 2025. There will be no on-the-day registrations.
Entering using a credit card will incur an online service fee charged by the registration hosting company.
START TIMES
NBS Nelson Marathon:
7am – For those with a race time of over 5hrs 30mins
7:30am – For those with a race time of over 4hrs 30mins
8am – All other participants
Half Marathon & Waimea 25km 4-Person Relay - 9:00am
10km – 9:30am
EVENT AGE RESTRICTIONS AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
NBS Nelson Marathon
Age restriction: 16+ years.
There are no performance requirements for this event and competitors may run, walk or hybrid, any or all of the course, however it is envisaged that all participants will have completed the event by 2pm.
Half Marathon
Age restriction: 14+ years.
There are no performance requirements for this event and competitors may run, walk or hybrid, any or all of the course.
10km
Age restriction: 12+ years.
There are no performance requirements for this event and competitors may run, walk or hybrid, any or all of the course.
Waimea 25km 4-Person Relay
Age restriction: 10+ years.
There are no performance requirements for this event and competitors may run, walk or hybrid, any or all of the course.
COMPETITOR CHECK-IN AND RACE NUMBER PICK-UP
Event check-in will be open between 9am and 3pm on Saturday 12 July at Hubbers Flooring, The Livibrook Complex, Nelson.
For those travelling from out of town on the day, race pack collection is available on the morning, however it would be appreciated if as many as possible collect race packs in advance of the event.
You may collect on behalf of someone else providing you know their details.
CAR PARKING
There are several places close to the Livibrook Complex (Jennian Homes, Eddyline Pizzeria & Hubbers) for parking vehicles during the event, including:
• In the car parks around the Livibrook Complex.
• Garin College
• Next to Avery Field
• By the Velodrome (Saxton Field)
• In Waimea College & bus bay
• Along Arbor-Lea Ave & Maple Crescent
These will involve a short walk. See map below.
There will be no parking available in the following locations in any circumstance:
• In the Livibrook Complex
• Richmond Aquatic Centre, Richmond
• Richmond Baptist Church (next to the Aquatic Centre)
COURSE SUMMARY
All courses take in flat, gravel tracks along the Great Taste Trail & Moturoa Trail, together with some short sections on tar seal. A full traffic management plan is in place along the course. MARATHON ONLY – Rabbit Island/Moturoa contains some sections of sand and more abrasive gravel and tree roots. Please wear appropriate footwear for the event.
CUT-OFF TIMES
No cut-offs are in place for this event.
TOILETS
There are several toilets around the course (marked on course maps):
• Check-in/Finish Area (Portaloo)
• Fittal Street Car Park (all courses)
• Sandemans Reserve (all courses)
• 5.2km change-over, Nelson Pine (Portaloo – Marathon, Half and Relay)
• Tic Toc Rd Aid Station (Marathon and Relay)
• Greenslade Park, Rough Island (Marathon only)
• Rabbit Island/Moturoa Beachfront (Marathon only)
• Rabbit Island/Moturoa Changing Sheds(Marathon only)
SHOWERS
There are showers available at Richmond Aquatic Centre. A Discount Entry Voucher will be in your RacePack.
START & FINISH LINE
The start lines are located 250m walk from the check-in, which is at Hubbers Flooring, Richmond. The finish line is in the Livibrook Complex carpark outside of Eddyline Pizzeria.
EVENT BRIEFING
Race briefing will be held 10 minutes before each start at the start line. It is compulsory to attend the race briefing for your event.
AID STATIONS
All courses will be supported with aid stations. Aid stations will be stocked with water only and will be at the following locations:
CREW INSTRUCTIONS
You must follow the instructions of the Event Crew at all times. Please be aware that all roads and trails remain open to the public. You must obey all road rules at all times and adhere to all Event Signage.
ENVIRONMENT & SAFETY GEAR
It is your responsibility to ensure you have suitable gear available on the day to cover all eventualities. Competitors should be conscious of the weather, their ability and the type of course they are competing on. This is a list of possible gear you may consider taking: hat, gloves, water, food, small first aid kit, long sleeve thermal top, windproof/weatherproof jacket, whistle & survival blanket.
Ensure that your footwear is suitable for the trails in the area.
Please ensure you carry enough medication for any conditions you have.
Any litter must be taken out and disposed of either in a bin at a water station or at the finish line.
AUDIO/MUSIC/LISTENING DEVICES
These devices are not recommended for safety reasons. Participants must be aware of their surroundings and hazards and be able to hear audible instructions from marshals.
OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORT & ANIMALS
Bikes, Scooters and Dogs will not be permitted on any Course.
PRIZEGIVING
At The Livibrook Complex, outside Eddyline Pizzeria at 2pm (subject to change in bad weather).
AWARDS & SPOT PRIZES
All performance prizes, spot prizes and major spot prizes are awarded at the prize-giving which will take place at 2pm. All competitors will be eligible for spot prizes and these will be randomly drawn at prize-giving. You must be in attendance to pick up a spot prize.
Performance prizes will be awarded to 1st placing for Men and Women in each age group category in each event. These will be based solely on the participant's time in their age group. The age group categories are as follows for men and women:
NBS Nelson Marathon: 16-19 years, 20-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60+, 1st Walker Overall
Half Marathon: 14-19 years, 20-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60+, 1st Walker Overall
10km: Under 14, 14-19 years, 20-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60+, 1st Walker Overall
Waimea 25km 4-Person Relay: Winning Team Prizes only
TIMING & RACE NUMBERS
The event will be timed. Competitors must always wear their “Race Number” fully visible on their front. There will be check points on the course where numbers are recorded.
WITHDRAWAL & REFUNDS
Please note that we do not allow entries to be transferred to other competitors, other events or for future years. As we are a non-profit organisation, no refunds will be given.
PRIVACY
Active4Good collects information about participants, including personal information, when completing your entry form. If you choose not to provide personal information when requested, certain services or quality of service may not be available to you or meet any special needs or requests that you may have.
Active4Good collects personal information for the following purposes:
• To assist in providing quality services.
• To communicate information to you about this or future events.
• Internal research.
• To assist Medical Providers in Emergency Situations.
Active4Good may disclose your Contact Details, Name, Occupation, Town/City, Nationality and Athletic Resume to the Media or on Entry/Results documents.
Outside of the above, we will not allow Third Party access to your information without your approval or consent.

As a participant in an Active4Good event, we assume that you wish to receive matters of interest by Electronic Communication.

PHOTOGRAPHS & OTHER MEDIA
We take photos/videos at our events and publish them on our Website, Social Media and in advertising.
By participating in the event, you acknowledge and agree that photos and/or videos of you at the event may be shared on social media and Active4Good communications.
If you do not want your photo taken, please make the photographer and race organisers aware and contact us at info@active4good.org within 24 hours of the event completion to confirm this. Likewise, if you wish any images to be removed after the event, let us know, and we will endeavour to remove them were possible.
MEDICAL
You consent to receiving medical treatment / first aid in the event of illness or injuries suffered during or immediately after the event.
